Al-Hijr

The Rock · Makki · 99 ayat

Ayah 1

15:1Alif, Lam, Ra. These are the verses of the Book and a clear Qur'an.

Ayah 2

15:2Perhaps those who disbelieve will wish that they had been Muslims.

Ayah 3

15:3Let them eat and enjoy themselves and be diverted by [false] hope, for they are going to know.

Ayah 4

15:4And We did not destroy any city but that for it was a known decree.

Ayah 5

15:5No nation will precede its term, nor will they remain thereafter.

Ayah 6

15:6And they say, "O you upon whom the message has been sent down, indeed you are mad.

Ayah 7

15:7Why do you not bring us the angels, if you should be among the truthful?"

Ayah 8

15:8We do not send down the angels except with truth; and the disbelievers would not then be reprieved.

Ayah 9

15:9Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur'an and indeed, We will be its guardian.

Ayah 10

15:10And We had certainly sent [messengers] before you, [O Muhammad], among the sects of the former peoples.

Ayah 11

15:11And no messenger would come to them except that they ridiculed him.

Ayah 12

15:12Thus do We insert denial into the hearts of the criminals.

Ayah 13

15:13They will not believe in it, while there has already occurred the precedent of the former peoples.

Ayah 14

15:14And [even] if We opened to them a gate from the heaven and they continued therein to ascend,

Ayah 15

15:15They would say, "Our eyes have only been dazzled. Rather, we are a people affected by magic."

Ayah 16

15:16And We have placed within the heaven great stars and have beautified it for the observers.

Ayah 17

15:17And We have protected it from every devil expelled [from the mercy of Allah]

Ayah 18

15:18Except one who steals a hearing and is pursued by a clear burning flame.

Ayah 19

15:19And the earth - We have spread it and cast therein firmly set mountains and caused to grow therein [something] of every well-balanced thing.

Ayah 20

15:20And We have made for you therein means of living and [for] those for whom you are not providers.

Ayah 21

15:21And there is not a thing but that with Us are its depositories, and We do not send it down except according to a known measure.

15:22And We have sent the fertilizing winds and sent down water from the sky and given you drink from it. And you are not its retainers.

Ayah 23

15:23And indeed, it is We who give life and cause death, and We are the Inheritor.

Ayah 24

15:24And We have already known the preceding [generations] among you, and We have already known the later [ones to come].

Ayah 25

15:25And indeed, your Lord will gather them; indeed, He is Wise and Knowing.

Ayah 26

15:26And We did certainly create man out of clay from an altered black mud.

Ayah 27

15:27And the jinn We created before from scorching fire.

Ayah 28

15:28And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud.

Ayah 29

15:29And when I have proportioned him and breathed into him of My [created] soul, then fall down to him in prostration."

Ayah 30

15:30So the angels prostrated - all of them entirely,

Ayah 31

15:31Except Iblees, he refused to be with those who prostrated.

Ayah 32

15:32[Allah] said, O Iblees, what is [the matter] with you that you are not with those who prostrate?"

Ayah 33

15:33He said, "Never would I prostrate to a human whom You created out of clay from an altered black mud."

Ayah 34

15:34[Allah] said, "Then get out of it, for indeed, you are expelled.

Ayah 35

15:35And indeed, upon you is the curse until the Day of Recompense."

Ayah 36

15:36He said, "My Lord, then reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected."

Ayah 37

15:37[Allah] said, "So indeed, you are of those reprieved

Ayah 38

15:38Until the Day of the time well-known."

Ayah 39

15:39[Iblees] said, "My Lord, because You have put me in error, I will surely make [disobedience] attractive to them on earth, and I will mislead them all

Ayah 40

15:40Except, among them, Your chosen servants."

Ayah 41

15:41[Allah] said, "This is a path [of return] to Me [that is] straight.

Ayah 42

15:42Indeed, My servants - no authority will you have over them, except those who follow you of the deviators.

Ayah 43

15:43And indeed, Hell is the promised place for them all.

Ayah 44

15:44It has seven gates; for every gate is of them a portion designated."

Ayah 45

15:45Indeed, the righteous will be within gardens and springs.

Ayah 46

15:46[Having been told], "Enter it in peace, safe [and secure]."

Ayah 47

15:47And We will remove whatever is in their breasts of resentment, [so they will be] brothers, on thrones facing each other.

Ayah 48

15:48No fatigue will touch them therein, nor from it will they [ever] be removed.

Ayah 49

15:49[O Muhammad], inform My servants that it is I who am the Forgiving, the Merciful.

Ayah 50

15:50And that it is My punishment which is the painful punishment.

Ayah 51

15:51And inform them about the guests of Abraham,

Ayah 52

15:52When they entered upon him and said, "Peace." [Abraham] said, "Indeed, we are fearful of you."

Ayah 53

15:53[The angels] said, "Fear not. Indeed, we give you good tidings of a learned boy."

Ayah 54

15:54He said, "Have you given me good tidings although old age has come upon me? Then of what [wonder] do you inform?"

Ayah 55

15:55They said, "We have given you good tidings in truth, so do not be of the despairing."

Ayah 56

15:56He said, "And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord except for those astray?"

Ayah 57

15:57[Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers?"

Ayah 58

15:58They said, "Indeed, we have been sent to a people of criminals,

Ayah 59

15:59Except the family of Lot; indeed, we will save them all

Ayah 60

15:60Except his wife." Allah decreed that she is of those who remain behind.

Ayah 61

15:61And when the messengers came to the family of Lot,

Ayah 62

15:62He said, "Indeed, you are people unknown."

Ayah 63

15:63They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing,

Ayah 64

15:64And we have come to you with truth, and indeed, we are truthful.

15:65So set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded."

Ayah 66

15:66And We conveyed to him [the decree] of that matter: that those [sinners] would be eliminated by early morning.

Ayah 67

15:67And the people of the city came rejoicing.

Ayah 68

15:68[Lot] said, "Indeed, these are my guests, so do not shame me.

Ayah 69

15:69And fear Allah and do not disgrace me."

Ayah 70

15:70They said, "Have we not forbidden you from [protecting] people?"

Ayah 71

15:71[Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]."

Ayah 72

15:72By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly.

Ayah 73

15:73So the shriek seized them at sunrise.

Ayah 74

15:74And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay.

Ayah 75

15:75Indeed in that are signs for those who discern.

Ayah 76

15:76And indeed, those cities are [situated] on an established road.

Ayah 77

15:77Indeed in that is a sign for the believers.

Ayah 78

15:78And the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers.

Ayah 79

15:79So We took retribution from them, and indeed, both [cities] are on a clear highway.

Ayah 80

15:80And certainly did the companions of Thamud deny the messengers.

Ayah 81

15:81And We gave them Our signs, but from them they were turning away.

Ayah 82

15:82And they used to carve from the mountains, houses, feeling secure.

Ayah 83

15:83But the shriek seized them at early morning.

Ayah 84

15:84So nothing availed them [from] what they used to earn.

15:85And We have not created the heavens and earth and that between them except in truth. And indeed, the Hour is coming; so forgive with gracious forgiveness.

Ayah 86

15:86Indeed, your Lord - He is the Knowing Creator.

Ayah 87

15:87And We have certainly given you, [O Muhammad], seven of the often repeated [verses] and the great Qur'an.

15:88Do not extend your eyes toward that by which We have given enjoyment to [certain] categories of the disbelievers, and do not grieve over them. And lower your wing to the believers

Ayah 89

15:89And say, "Indeed, I am the clear warner" -

Ayah 90

15:90Just as We had revealed [scriptures] to the separators

Ayah 91

15:91Who have made the Qur'an into portions.

Ayah 92

15:92So by your Lord, We will surely question them all
