How we source what we share
Every ayah, hadith and du’a on The Deen Map carries its reference. Here is how we choose sources, show them, and correct mistakes.
The Deen Map · · 1 min read
The Deen Map exists to make sacred knowledge simple to find and easy to act upon. That only works if you can trust what you read, and if you can check it for yourself.
References stay with the text
Whenever we quote the Qur’an or a hadith, the reference appears directly beneath it. Qur’anic references give the surah and ayah. Hadith references give the collection and, where we have it, the hadith number.
Where we can, the reference is a link. Qur’an references open the ayah in our Qur’an reader, so you can read it in its surah. Sites such as Quran.com offer many more translations. Hadith references with a single collection and number open the narration on Sunnah.com.
We check before we publish
Each ayah, hadith and du’a is checked against its primary source: the Arabic, the translation and the reference. If a reference is ever being re-checked, you will see a small asterisk (*) beside its source until the check is complete.
Qur’an, hadith and our own words
We keep three kinds of writing visibly apart:
- Qur’an — the words of Allah, always with surah and ayah.
- Hadith — narrations from the Prophet ﷺ, always with the collection.
- Our own writing — guides, reflections and explanations like this one. These are not scripture, and we try never to present them as if they were.
When we get something wrong
If you spot a mistake, please message us on WhatsApp, email hello@thedeenmap.com or use the contact page. We will check it and correct it. JazakAllah khair in advance.
Sharing our content
Please share anything that benefits you. We only ask that you keep the references intact, so others can trace each ayah and hadith back to its source.
